The Accelerating Auckland Regional ICT Internship Programme was established in 2006 to provide opportunities for high performing Tertiary students to gain work experience in leading Auckland businesses. Businesses participating in the programme to date have included Navman, ASB, Orion Health, Vianet International and ITT WRKZ.

The programme focuses on:

• Students majoring in ICT disciplines who will be entering the workforce within 12 months
• Businesses that currently not running internship programmes keen to work with an “off-the -shelf" programme.

For 2008/9 Accelerating Auckland has partnered with Massey University (Albany Campus), the University of Otago, the New Zealand School of Education (NZSE) and the University of Waikato to expand our earlier work.

Typically Internships for a 10 - 20 week period between mid November and February, supplemented by a seminar series suppoting interns with advice from industry experts. NZSE offers six week internships running throughout the year.

Accelerating Auckland’s Regional ICT Internship programme is modeled on the highly successful ICT Innovation Academy Internship programme undertaken by the University of Auckland for the past four years.
